History-
The world first dock was built at Lothal which is located in Ahmedabad ( now near the modern state of Gujarat) around 2300 BC during Harappa civilization. In the late 17th century when the Sidis of Janjira associates with the Moghuls to become a major power on the west coast the Marathi king Shivaji created his won fleet which was commanded by Sidhoji Gujar and later Kanhoji Angre. This fleet with the legend Kanhoji Held sway over the entire Konkan coast, Dutch and Portuguese. In the year 1723 with the death of Kanhoji Angre left an emptiness in leadership. And this resulted the decreases of Maratha see power.Many Indian ships were inducted into the royal navy, such as HMS Hindusthan in 1795, The Frigate Cornwallis in 1800, HMS Camel in 1806, HMS Cyclone in 1808 and HMS Asia in 1827.
HMS Trincomalee, the most famous Ship which was launched on 19th October 1817 carrying 46 guns and displacing 1065 tons. Later it was renamed by Foudroyant, and it is the oldest ship which is built in India. The Bombay dock which is used even today was completed in July 1735.
A memorable attack-
During the Indo–Pakistan war in 1971, an attack on the Karachi harbor was a memorable attack. And during this operation, India used first Anti-ship missiles. Total Pakistani PNS and other vessel were destroyed in 90 minutes.Indian navy was honored with the Nau Sena Medal and Maha Vir Chakra for their courage in the operation.
